Each year in the U.S. approximately 28,000 transplants take place, courtesy of individuals who make the conscious decision to leave their organs to someone who needs them. They register and receive a donor card to communicate their wishes.
Additionally, more individuals are becoming "Living Donors" and generously giving a live organ, most often a kidney, to people they know and to total strangers.
All of these donors provide people whose quality of life has deteriorated the opportunity to once again be whole and do all the things that you and I take for granted.
